正如人有好壞，律師也不免良莠不齊，中外古今皆然。不過有一點(diǎn)值得注意，漢語中表達(dá)壞律師的詞很少（如惡訟師，訟棍，強(qiáng)盜律師）。而英語中表示壞律師的詞則數(shù)倍于漢語——這是由于我華夏大地壞律師很少，還是漢語中表達(dá)壞律師的詞比較貧乏，還是兩種原因并發(fā)所致呢？這暫且不談。還是先來看看英語中種種表示壞律師的詞吧：

1. ambulance chaser：a lawyer who solicits business from accident victims at the scene of an accident or shortly thereafter；by extension, an unscrupulous plaintiffs' lawyer.

專拉事故被害人生意的律師；專替刁民出頭的律師

2. ambidexter：an unscrupulous lawyer who takes compensation (or sometimes bribes) "with both hands" that is, from both sides of a controversy,

“兩手（同時向雙方當(dāng)事人）撈（錢的）律師

3. jackleg iawyer：an amateurish and dishonest lawyer. 

不正派的三腳貓律師

4. jailhouse lawyer: an inmate who acquires some degree of legul learning and counsels his fellow inmates on drafting complaints and briefs.

監(jiān)獄中（略懂一點(diǎn)法律就替同監(jiān)犯出主意撰訴狀）的土訟師

5. latrine lawyer: a lawyer who gets his business from the rumor he hears spread in the latrine.

6. lawmonger: a low practitioner of law: pettifogger

7. pettifogger：a petty and disreputable lawyer of unlearned, little, mean character and lacking in ability, sound judgment or good common sense who niggles over in consequential details.

8. shyster: a professionally unscrupulous lawyer who may be possessed of much learning, great ability or an abundance of shrewdness and cunning, but he is a trickster and a dishonest schemer；he is a fomenter of litigation, strife and discord in the community：he is a manufacturer of evidence, a fosterer of perjury and a promoter of bribery；he is a cunning thief, who conceals his perfidy and rascality under the cloak of the law；he cunningly abuses the noble profession to which he has been admitted as a weapon of offense in deeds of unjust oppression, scheming knavery and the procurement of confidence and the repose of trust, which he basely abuses, when there is opportunity to profit by so doing.

刁鉆促狹的惡訟師

英語中還有一個表示律師的詞，人們以予貶義詞相提并論，卻又說不全是貶義的，那便是

Philadelphia lawyer: an extremely competent lawyer who knows the ins and outs of all the legal technicalities and jargon (not wholly derogatory).

看來，這個“Philadelphia lawyer”似與漢語“紹興師爺”相當(dāng)。
