漢語的兩個修飾詞是出于行文的需要時表達一種語氣，而譯文所用兩個動詞意義已很明顯且語氣強烈，再加修飾詞會顯語義重復(fù)，因而譯文去掉未譯。再看下例“積極推進”的譯法：
5. 國有企業(yè)改革在試點基礎(chǔ)上積極推進。以公有制為主體，多種經(jīng)濟成分共同發(fā)展的格局進一步展開。
We pressed forward with the reform of state-owned enterprises after making experiments in selected ones. We further developed the pattern of the public sector remaining dominant and diverse sectors of the economy developing side by side.
原文“積極”因譯文動詞press forward已含有“主動積極”之義而省去未譯，避免了語義重復(fù)，同時，它在原文中也是出于漢語 行文對仗的需要而使用的，意在與后一個修飾詞“進一步”形成對應(yīng)之勢；第二句中“進一步”原本可不譯的，因其后的動詞develop 已隱含此意，但考慮到此句譯文后一部分太長，因而用further譯出，非但不顯累贅，反而顧全了原義。
