2. 轉譯為連詞
英語中某些介詞漢譯時可轉譯為漢語的連詞。如：
* The weight of the neutron is about the same as a proton.
中子的重量和質子差不多相同。
* With all its advantages, the accuracy of the new dating method using radioactive?C-14 can't be blindly trusted.
利用放射性碳14測定年代的新方法雖然有種種優(yōu)點，但是我們不可盲目相信其準確性。
* For a polymer to be electrically conductive, it must "imitate" a metal一the electrons in the bonds must be freely mobile and not bound fast to the atoms.
如果ー個聚合物要導電，就必須"像"金屬那樣：成鍵電子必須能夠自由流動，而不是與成鍵原子緊密結合。
3. 轉譯為其他詞
* Smoke detectors located in each elevator lobby over the elevator call button.
每個電梯間的呼叫按鈕上方有煙火探測器。（轉譯為名詞）
* The grouping of molecules around a given molecule changes continually.
某個中心分子周圍的分子組合卻在不斷地變化。（轉譯為形容詞）
* Concrete slab paving will be provided throughout the enclosed boiler area.
鍋爐封閉部分全部采用混凝土平板地面。（轉譯為副詞）
三、省譯
根據(jù)漢語的表達需要，英語中許多介詞在漢譯時可以省略不譯。
* By itself, concrete is only good at resisting compression, but it fails under tension.
混凝土本身只能抗壓，不能抗拉。（省譯了 under)
* Adverse to iron, mercury is in a liquid state at ordinary temperature.
水銀與鐵不同，在常溫下是液態(tài)。（省譯了 in)
* The temperature in the combustion chamber was in excess of 2,000°C degrees.
燃燒室中的溫度超過了 2,000°Cd (省譯了 in和of)
