至真要大論篇/Zhi Zhen Yao Da Lun
(The Various Changes in the Dominations of the Six Energies and their Relations with the Diseases)
黃帝問日:五氣交合,盈虛更作,余知之矣。六氣分治,司天地者,其至何如?岐伯再拜對(duì)日:明乎哉問也!天地之大紀(jì),人神之通應(yīng)也。帝日:愿聞上合昭昭,下合冥冥奈何?岐伯日:此道之所主,工之所疑也。
Yellow Emperor asked: "I have understood the principles about the mutual coordination of the five-motion's energies and their mutual alternations when they are excessive or insufficient. But what about the changes induced by the arrivals of the energy that controls the heaven or by that of the energy that effects the earth energy in the seasonal domination of the six energies respectively?" Qibo bowed and said: "What an explicit question you have asked. It is the fundamental law of the changes of heaven and earth, and the law for the human body to suit the changes of heaven and earth."
Yellow Emperor said: "I hope to know how can one suit the evident principle of heaven above and fit the profound truth of the earth below?" Qibo said:"This is the principal part in the medical theory which is unclear to many physicians."
帝日:愿聞其道也。岐伯日:厥陰司天,其化以風(fēng);少陰司天,其化以熱;太陰司天,其化以濕;少陽司天,其化以火;陽明司天,其化以燥;太陽司天,其化以寒。以所臨藏位,命其病者也。
Yellow Emperor said:"I hope to hear about it." Qibo said:"When Jueyin is controlling the heaven energy, the energy is assimilated by the wind; when Shaoyin is controlling the heaven energy, the energy is assimilated by the heat; when Taiyin is controlling by the heaven energy, the energy is assimilated by the wetness; when Shaoyang is controlling the heaven energy, the energy is assimilated by the fire; when Yangming is controlling the heaven energy, the energy is asimilated by the dryness; when Taiyang is controlling the heaven energy, the energy is assimilated by the cold. The names or the diseases are determined by the viscus to which the guest energy befalls."
帝日:地化奈何?岐伯日:司天同候,間氣皆然。帝日:間氣何謂?岐伯日:司左右者,是謂間氣也。帝日:何以異之?岐伯日:主歲者紀(jì)歲,間氣者紀(jì)步也。帝日:善。歲主奈何? 岐伯日:厥陰司天為風(fēng)化,在泉為酸化,司氣為蒼化,間氣為動(dòng)化。少陰司天為熱化,在泉為苦化,不司氣化,居氣為灼化。太陰司天為濕化,在泉為甘化,司氣為黅化,間氣為柔化。少陽司天為火化,在泉為苦化,司氣為丹化,間氣為明化。陽明司天為燥化,在泉為辛化,司氣為素化,間氣為清化。太陽司天為寒化,在泉為咸化,司氣為玄化,間氣為藏化。故治病者,必明六化分治,五昧五色所生,五藏所宜,乃可以言盈虛病生之緒也。
Yellow Emperor said:"What is the assimilating condition when the energy is affecting the earth energy?" Qibo said:"It is similar with the energy that controls the heaven energy. and the condition of the intermediate energy is also the same."
Yellow Emperor asked:" What is the intermediate energy?" Qibo said; "It is the energy that takes charge in the left or right side of the energy that controls the heaven energy and that effects the earth energy."
Yellow Emperor asked: "What is the difference of the energy that controls the heaven energy, the energy that affects the earth energy and the intermediate energy?" Qibo said:" The energy that controls heaven energy and that affects the earth energy dominates the energy activity of the whole year and the intermediate energy dominates the energy activity for sixty days (one pace )."
Yellow Emperor said: "Good. What is the condition of the energy that dominates the year?" Qibo said: "When Jueyin is controlling the heaven energy, it is assimilated by the wind, when it is affecting the earth energy, it is assimilated by the sourness, when it dominates the year's motion, it is assimilated by the green colour. When it is the intermediate energy, it is assimilated by the mobility. When Shaoyin is controlling the heaven energyv it is assimilated by the heat. when it is affecting the earth energy, it is assimilated by the bitterness, as a monarch, when Shaoyin does not dominate the year's motion, it is the intermediate energy, and is assimilated by the scorching heat. When Taiyin is controlling the heaven energy, it is assimilated by the wetness. When it is affecting the earth energy, it is assimilated by the sweetness, when it dominates the year's motion, it is assimilated by the yellow colour, when it is the intermediate energy, it is assimilated by the softness, when Shaoyang is controlling the heaven energy, it is assimilated by the fire, when it is affecting the earth energy, it is assimilated by the bitterness, when it dominates the year's motion, itis assimilated by the red colour, when it is the intermediate energy, it is assimilated by the brightness, when Yangming is controlling the heaven energy, it is assimilated by the dryness. When it is affecting the earth energy, it is asimilated by the acridness, when it is dominating the year's motion, it is assimilated by the plainness, when it is the intermediate energy, it is assimilated by the coolness. When Taiyang is controlling the heaven energy, it is assimilated by the cold, when it is affecting the earth energy, it is assimilated by the saltiness, when it is dominating the year's motion, it is assimilated by the black colour, when it is the intermediate energy, it is assimilated by the energy of storing.
"Thus, when treating, one must understand the different functions of the energy activities of the six energies, the functions produced by the five tastes and the five colours and what the five viscera like and dislike, then can one know the threads of the surplus and the deficiency of the energy activity and the diseaes."
帝曰:厥陰在泉而酸化,先余知之矣。風(fēng)化之行也何如?岐伯日:風(fēng)行于地,所謂本也,余氣同法。本乎天者,天之氣也,本乎地者,地之氣也,天地合氣,六節(jié)分而萬物化生矣。故日:謹(jǐn)侯氣宜,無失病機(jī),此之謂也。
Yellow Emperor said:"I have known when Jueyin is affecting the earth energy, it will be assimilated by the sourness, but what is the condition when it is assimilated by wind?" Qibo said: "When Jueyin is affecting the earth energy, the wind moves about earth and the earth energy is assimilated by the wind, and the other five energies are likewise. When the six energies are controlling the heaven energy, they belong to the heaven energy, when the six energies are affecting the earth energy, they belong to the earth energy, when the heaven energy and the earth energy join together, there occur the delimitations of the six stages of the energies, and, in this way, can all things be growing and transforming. Thus, one must pay good attention to the observation of the weather change, and must not let slip the change of treating the diseaes."
