以上三者均有界限的含義。bounds可用作比喻,指超過某種界限,如 His impudence exceeds all bounds
;詞組 out of bounds
常作軍事用語,指禁止某人進人某一區(qū)域;此外,其還可用于指一片土地之邊界[1]。confines常等同bonds,也指某種界限,
也常用作比喻,相比較,它與地理或區(qū)域因素的聯系更少一些[2]。limit為通用詞,幾乎可指任何界限或分界[3],如to pass beyond
the city limits。
