你的醫(yī)生花時間對你交談嗎？你在就診時間里看醫(yī)生用了15分鐘嗎？你得到過需要應對多種健康問題的指導嗎？你的醫(yī)生給你治病時技能嫻熟和有同情心嗎？

Does your doctor spend time talking to you? Do you see your doctor within 15 minutes of your appointment time? Have you got the guidance you need to cope with multiple overlapping problems? Do you even have a physician who treats you promptly with skill and compassion? 

對這些問題中任何一個的否定回答，是不會令人感到驚訝的。要找到很了解病人并且有效率、有同情心地給予悉心醫(yī)療的醫(yī)生，在中國已經成為一個挑戰(zhàn)。

A “no” answer to any of these questions would not be surprising. Finding doctors who know their patients well and who deliver informed medical care with efficiency and empathy has become quite a challenge in China.

當今的中國醫(yī)療服務體制中有個危機，這個危機是全科醫(yī)生不足。他們是這樣一些醫(yī)生：會問一些貼切的有關健康和生活情況的問題。

There is a crisis in China’s healthcare delivery system today, and the crisis is an inadequate supply of primary care physicians. They are the doctors who ask pertinent questions, about health and also about life circumstances, and who listen carefully to how patients answer. 

這些醫(yī)生了解病人，還了解那些可能使健康問題更嚴重或妨礙有效治療的情況和想法。

They are the doctors who know their patients, and the circumstances and beliefs that can make health problems worse or impede effective treatment.

全科醫(yī)生花更多的時間與病人交談，幫助他們應對那些慢性病和治不好的病，而不是去做各種不必要檢查。

Primary care doctors spend far more time talking to patients and helping them cope with ailments that are chronic and incurable than they spend performing unnecessary tests.

更多的這樣醫(yī)生會減緩看病難、看病貴的問題，會有助于總體上改善醫(yī)患關系。

More such doctors can alleviate the problems of inconvenient access to health care and soaring medical fees, and contribute to improved doctor-patient relationship on the whole.

問題是在中國現(xiàn)行的醫(yī)療體制下，全科醫(yī)生得到報酬要遠遠低于城市里三級醫(yī)院的醫(yī)生。

The problem is that in the existing medical system in China, primary care physicians get much less compensation than those practice in tertiary hospitals in cities. 

很顯然，從報酬上講是不鼓勵醫(yī)生從事基層醫(yī)療的。所以有經驗的全科醫(yī)生數(shù)量不足也就不足為怪了。

It is evident that doctors are not encouraged to practice primary care in terms of compensation. It is no wonder that there is shortage of experienced primary care physicians. 

不管醫(yī)療改革會給中國的老百姓帶來什么樣的未來，我們需要把醫(yī)學的人文情懷保持下去。

Whatever the future of health care reform may hold for ordinary Chinese, we need to go forward with something that keeps the humanity in medicine.
