順氣一日分為四時(shí)/Shun Qi Yi Ri Fen Wei Si Shi
(The Human Healthy Energy in the Day and Night Corresponds with the Energies of the Four Seasons)
黃帝日:夫百病之所始生者，必起于燥濕、寒暑、風(fēng)雨、陰陽、喜怒、飲食、居處，氣合而有形，得藏而有名，余知其然也。夫百病者，多以旦慧晝安，夕加夜甚，何也?岐伯日:四時(shí)之氣使然。
Yellow Emperor said:"The initiation of the various diseases begins from the attack of exogenous evils, such as dryness, wetness, cold, summer-heat, wind and rain or from the internal damage such as disharmony of Yin and Yang, emotional upset, immorderate diet and abnormal daily life. When the evil energy invades into the body, it will be manifested in the pulse condition, when the evil energy enters into the internal organs, the disease with different names can be examined from the superficies and interior, and I have known them all. As to the various diseases, most of them are light in the morning, calm in the day, aggravates in the evening and become even worse in the night, and why is it?" Qibo said: "They are caused by the different energies of the four seasons."
黃帝曰:愿聞四時(shí)之氣。岐伯曰:春生夏長，秋收冬藏，是氣之常也，人亦應(yīng)之，以一日分為四時(shí)，朝則為春，日中為夏，日入為秋，夜半為冬。朝則人氣始生，病氣衰，故旦慧;日中人氣長，長則勝邪，故安;夕則人氣始衰，邪氣始生，故加;夜半人氣入藏，邪氣獨(dú)居于身，故甚也。
Yellow Emperor said: "I hope to know how the energies of the four seasons influence the human body." Qibo said:"The weather is normal when it generates in spring, grows in summer, collects in autumn and stores in winter, and the human energy corresponds with it. When one divides the day and night into four seasons, then, the morning is spring, the noon is summer, in the time of sunset, it is the autumn, and in the night, it is the winter. In the morning, the health energy of human body is like the generation of the spring energy and the evil energy is declining, thus, the patient is easy and the disease is light; at noon, the health energy of human body is prosperous like the growth energy of summer, as the prosperous growth energy can overcome the evil energy, thus, the disease is calm; in the evening, the health energy of human body is collecting like the autumn energy, the evil energy begins to generate, and the disease is aggravating; in the night, the health energy of human body is storing like the winter energy, and the evil energy resides alone in the body, thus, the disease becomes even worse in the night."
黃帝曰:其時(shí)有反者何也?岐伯曰:是不應(yīng)四時(shí)之氣，藏獨(dú)主其[主其:周本作“生甚”]病者，是必以藏氣之所不勝時(shí)者甚，以其所勝時(shí)者起也。黃帝曰:治之奈何?岐伯曰:順天之時(shí)，而病可與期。順者為工，逆者為粗。
Yellow Emperor said: "In some diseases, their conditions are not agreeable to what you said, and why is it?" Qibo said:"It is the case when the disease is not corresponding with the energies of the four seasons, and a single viscus has contracted a serious disease. When the energy of the viscus is subjugated by the energy of the day, such as: the spleen disease encounters the day of wood, the lung disease encounters the day of fire, the kidney disease encounters the day of earth, the liver disease encounters the day of metal and the heart disease encounters the day of water, the disease will be aggravated; when the energy of the viscus is supported or agreeable with that of the day, such as; the spleen disease encounters the days of fire and earth, the lung disease encounters the days of earth and metal, the kidney disease encounters the days of metal and water, the liver disease encounters the days of water and wood; and the heart disease encounters the days of wood and fire, the disease will be somewhat alleviated." Yellow Emperor asked: "How to treat it?" Qibo said: "When one can treat agreeably or treat with the weather change of nature, the aggravation and alleviation of the disease can be anticipated. When one treats agreeably, he is a good physician, when one treats reversely, he is a physician of lower level."
