"When one's heart is small, the heart energy will be stable, he can hardly be injured by external evil energy, but he is apt to be injured by internal disturbances; when one's heart is large, he can hardly be injured by internal disturbances, but he is apt to be injured by exogenous evils. When the position of the heart is high, it will be fully covered by the lung, one will often be oppressive and forgetful, and he can hardly be enlightened by words; when the position of the heart is low, the heart energy will be tight, one is apt to be injured by cold-evil, and he is apt to be frightened by words. When one’s heart is firm and substantial, the spirit stored inside will be stable; when one’s heart is fragile, he will often contract diabetes and will have the retention of heat-evil in the middle warmer. When the position of the heart is upright, the heart energy will be harmonious, and one can hardly be injured by the exogenous evils; when the position of the heart is slanting, one can hardly keep a sound mind and he will not be able to handle things in an unanimous way.
"When one's lung is small, his lung energy will be stable, he drinks little water and can hardly contract the disease of rapid respiration; when one's lung is large, he will contract the disease of rapid respiration in cold weather and he is apt to contract chest bi-syndrome and the adverseness of vital energy. When the position of the lung is high, the syndrome of the reversing up of the vital energy, breathing with elevation of shoulders and cough will occur; when the position of the lung is low, it will oppress the diaphragm and the heart, the pain under the hypochondria will occur. When one's lung is firm, he will not contract the syndrome of cough and the adverseness of vital energy: when one's lung is fragile, he will contract diabetes and apt to contract rapid respiration and epistaxis in hot weather. When the position of one's lung is upright, his lung energy will be harmonious, and he can hardly be injured by exogenous evil; when the position of one's lung is slanting, it will cause one to have partial pain of the chest and hypochondria.
