衛(wèi)氣/Wei Qi
(On the Wei-energy)
黃帝日:五臟者，所以藏精神魂魄者也。六腑者，所以受水谷而行化物者也。其氣內干五臟，而外絡肢節(jié)。其浮氣之不循經者，為衛(wèi)氣;其精氣之行于經者，為營氣。陰陽相隨，外內相貫，如環(huán)之無端，亭亭淳淳乎，軌能窮之。然其分別陰陽，皆有標本虛實所離之處。能別陰陽十二經者，如病之所生。候虛實之所在者，能得病之高下。知六腑[府:《甲乙》卷二第四作“經”]之氣街者，能知解結契紹于門戶。能知虛石之堅軟者，知補瀉之所在。能知六經標本者，可以無惑于天下。
Yellow Emperor said: "The five solid organs are to store the spirit, soul and the inferior spirit; the six hollow organs are to receive the water and cereals, and to transport the refined substances. The energy goes inside to the five solid organs and goes outside to the extremities. The energy that floats outside of the channel and does not run along the channel is called the Wei-energy; the refined energy that runs inside of the channel is called the Ying-energy. The Yin and Yang are following each other, and the interior and the exterior are communicating with each other like a ring which has no beginning and terminal. Who can exhaust the essence of its endless operation? Nevertheless, the Yin and Yang energies in the body have the different conditions of interior or superficies and asthenia or sthenia, when one can distinguish the twelve channels of Yin and Yang, he will be able to understand the reason of causing disease; when one can examine the situation of asthenia and sthenia, he will be able to know the upper or lower locations of the disease; when one knows the main routes of the coming and going of the six hollow organs, he will be able to know how to dissipate the mass and dredge the acupoints; when one knows the belongings of the sthenia and asthenia to the firmness and the softness, he will be able to know which channel should be invigorated and which channel should be purged; when one knows the root and branch of the six channels of hand and foot, he will be able to understand the diseases extensively without perplexion."
岐伯曰:博哉圣帝之論!臣請盡意[盡意:《甲乙》卷二第四無此字]悉言之。足太陽之本，在跟以上五寸中，標在兩絡命門。命門者，目也。足少陽之本，在竅陰之間，標在窗籠之前。窗籠者，耳也。足少陰之本，在內踝下上三寸[上三寸:《千金》卷十九第一并作“二寸”]中，標在背腧與舌下兩脈也。足厥陰之本，在行間上五寸所，標在背腧也。足陽明之本，在厲兌，標在人迎頰挾頏顙也。足太陰之本，在中封前上四寸之中，標在背腧與舌本也。
Qibo said:"How extensive your comment is. I like to tell you all my views. The root of the Foot Taiyang Channel is the Fuyang point (BL.59) which is five inches above the heel; its branch is the gate of life of the left and right collaterals which is the Jingming point (BL. 1). The root of Foot Shaoyang Channel is the Qiaoyin point (GB.44); its branch is in front of the window shield, the so called window shield indicates the Tinggong point (SI. 19) in front of the ear. The root of the Foot Shaoyin Channel is the Jiaoxin point (KI. 8) which is two inches above the inner ankle of foot; its branches are the Shenshu point (BL. 23) on the back and the Lianquan point (RN. 23) in the two channels under the tongue. The root of the Foot Jueyin Channel is the Zhongfeng point (LR. 4) five inches above the Xingjian point; its branch is the Ganshu point (BL. 18) on the back; the root of Foot Yangming is the Lidiu point (ST. 45) its branch is the Renying point (ST. 9) which is the location where the cheek, pharynx, Iower palate and the nose communicate. The root of the Foot Taiyin Channel is the Sanyinjiao point (SP. 6) in front and above the Zhongfeng point; its branch is the Pishu point (BL.. 20) on the back and the root of the tongue.
