以上單詞均有廢止和取消的含義。abolish指完全廢除制度、 風(fēng)俗、習(xí)慣等[1],如 to abolish slavery, ignorance。abrogate 主要指對(duì)下屬機(jī)構(gòu)簽發(fā)的命令、規(guī)則的廢除,或經(jīng)立法廢除法規(guī)或習(xí)俗等,如abrogate certain privileges [2]。annul指終止某事務(wù)的存在或宣布其無(wú)效或從未真正存在過(guò),如annul the marriage [3]。 rescind常用于合同的撤銷(xiāo),以及經(jīng)同級(jí)或上級(jí)機(jī)構(gòu)予以撤銷(xiāo)或廢除規(guī)定等,如rescind an order[4]。revoke主要指以收回或撤銷(xiāo)以往授予或準(zhǔn)予事項(xiàng)的形式予以廢除或廢止,或廢除遺囑效力, 如to revoke a charter [5]。repeal主要指以立法形式撤銷(xiāo)或廢除法規(guī)、命令、許可等,如 to repeal an amendment [6] 。
