前綴per-來自拉丁介副詞per,它的基本意思是through (通過),由此又引申出具有加強意義的throughout (貫穿),thoroughly(徹底),及含有貶義的to destruction (毀壞)等意思 (表示貶義的per-只出現(xiàn)在少數(shù)單詞中)。per-是原生前綴,主要與拉丁動詞詞干結合,構成動詞及其相應的名詞或形容詞。
