股票的指數(shù)主要有:道瓊斯指數(shù)(the Dow-jones Average/the Dow-Jones Index)，（美國）納斯達克（高技術企業(yè)板）NASDAQ (National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotation)， 《金融時報》工業(yè)普通股票價格指數(shù)(the Financial Times Industrial Ordinary Share Index)，《金融時報》股票價格指數(shù)（the Financial Times All-Share Index)，香港恒生指數(shù)（Hongkong Hang Seng Index)。上海(股票）綜合指數(shù)（Shanghai Composite Index)，深圳成分指數(shù)(Shenzhen Sub-Index Index)。股市中常提到的世界件殷票 交易所主要有:紐約證券交易所(the New York Stock Exchange)， 東京證券交場所（Tokyo Stock Exchange )，香港證券交易所 (Hongkong Stock Kxchangc)，倫敦證券交易所（London Slock Exchange)等。與股票緊密有關的大公司有證券信息公司 (Security Data Co.)，大眾汽車 B 股(Dazhong Taxi E shares)等。
2）漢英股市新聞中都有很多日常用詞被賦予專業(yè)性意義。它 們的專業(yè)含義只有在專業(yè)詞典上才能查到。如harden的常用詞義是make or become hard，而在股市新聞中的意思卻是 increase in price or become less subject to downward fluctuations in price。Edge 的常義是move slow along，但在股市交易中其含義為 increase slightly in price。其他例子還很多，如dull (交易平淡；價格無回升），look weak(走勢低迷），lose ground(價格下跌），ease(跌價；變便宜），mature(成交）（票據(jù)到期），pick up [(股價)上揚]，jump (價格暴漲），close (收盤），hit hard (受嚴重影響），slight firming (價格略回升），bulls and bears(多頭和空頭），bear sales (拋售），bull campaign ( 哄抬證券價格風潮)，go-go(投機性短期炒賣股票；短線操作），股票公開上市(going public)。
