故足之陽者,陰中之少陽也;足之陰者,陰中之太陰也。手之陽者,陽中之太陽也;手之陰者,陽中之少陰也。腰以上者為陽,腰以下者為陰。
"The Yang channels in the two feet are the Shaoyang in Yin; the Yin channels in the two feet are the Taiyin in Yin. The Yang channels in the two hands are the Taiyang in Yang; the Yin channels in the two hands are the Shaoyin in Yang. The parts above the loins are called Yang, and the parts below the loins are called Yin.
其于五藏也,心為陽中之太陽,肺為陰中[陰中:《太素》作“陽中”]之少陰,肝為陰中之少陽,脾為陰中之至陰,腎為陰中之太陰。
"In the five viscera, the heart is the Taiyang in Yang, the lung is the Shaoyin in Yang, the liver is the Shaoyang in Yin, the spleen is the extreme Yin in Yin, and the kidney is the Taiyin in Yin."
黃帝曰:以治之奈何?岐伯曰:正月、二月、三月,人氣在左,無刺左足之陽;四月、五月、六月,人氣在右,無刺右足之陽。七月、八月、九月,人氣在右,無刺右足之陰;十月、十一月、十二月,人氣在左,無刺左足之陰。
Yellow Emperor asked:"How to treat it?" Qibo said: "The Yang energy moves from left to the right, in the first, second and third lunar months, the energy of man is on the left, the three Yang channels of the left foot must not be pricked. In the fourth, fifth and sixth lunar months, the energy of man is on the right, the three Yang channels of the right foot must not be pricked. The Yin energy moves from the right to the left, in the seventh, eighth and the ninth lunar months, the energy of man is in the right, the three Yin channels of the right foot must not be pricked. In the tenth, eleventh and the twelfth lunar months, the energy of man is on the left, the three Yin channels of the left foot must not be pricked."
黃帝日:五行以東方為甲乙木王[王:周本作“主”]春,春者蒼色,主肝[主肝:《太素》卷五《陰陽合》“主”作“有”,上重“蒼色”二字]。肝者,足厥陰[足:《太素》卷五《陰陽合》“足”上有“主”字]也。今乃以甲為左手之少陽,不合于數(shù)何也?”岐伯曰:此天地之陰陽也,非四時(shí)五行之以次行也。且夫陰陽者,有名而無形,故數(shù)之可十,離之可百,散之可千,推之可萬,此謂也。
Yellow Emperor asked: "In the five elements, the Jia anid Yi woods of east are dominating the spring season of which the colour is green, and it dominates the liver which is of the Foot Jueyin Channel. Now you take the day of Jia as the Shaoyang Channel of the left hand which is against the rule of the five elements coordinating the decimal cycle, and why is it?" Qibo said: "This is the law of the variation of heaven, earth, Yin and Yang which is not arranged according to the sequence of the four seasons and the five elements. The Yin and Yang are in names but not in shapes. Thus, when one deduces things with the principle of Yin and Yang, it can be counted into ten, but it can be divided into hundreds, can be scattered into thousands, and can be inferred into ten thousands, and one must not stick on it rigidly."
