在常用詞triangle (三角形）中有個(gè)前綴tri-，它來自拉丁形容詞tres，或tria，意思是three (三）。也可以說它來自希臘形容詞treis或tris。因?yàn)樗鼈冊(cè)谟W語中是共源的。所以，tri-可以作為原生前綴跟拉丁詞極與希臘詞根相綴合。此外，tri-還可以充當(dāng)派生前綴與名詞、形容詞結(jié)合。這時(shí)，它還有having three (三…的）的意思。

tricycle [ tri- = three 三; cycl = circle 圓圈；-e→“three circles or wheels 三個(gè)輪子 ”→]n. a vehicle having three wheels 三輪車；三輪摩托車/ Children often ride tricycles. 小孩子常騎三輪車。

tricyclist n. 騎三輪車或三輪摩托的人

trident [ tri- = three三 ; dent = tooth 齒→]n. a spear with three prongs 二叉戟 / The young man used a trident for fishing. 那青年用三叉戟捕魚。

trilogy [ tri- = three 三; logy = story 故事→]n. a group of three novels, plays or operas which form a related series (小說、戲劇等）三部曲 / This trilogy was first performed during the Dionysus in ancient Athens. 這三部曲最早是在古雅典的酒神節(jié)期間上演的。
