在常用詞action中，有個(gè)英語中最重要的名詞后綴-ion，它來自拉丁語，只能加綴在拉丁動(dòng)詞詞干或拉丁借詞上，構(gòu)成相應(yīng)的名詞，其意思相當(dāng)于the act or process of ?ing，the result of ?ing，the condition of being ~ed, a thing that ?s 等，即表示某一動(dòng)作的過程、結(jié)果與狀態(tài)，以及與該行為有關(guān)的事物。由于拉丁構(gòu)詞規(guī)律的影響， -ion 有-ation，-ition，-ution 等異體，但它們的用法與意義與-ion并無區(qū)別。

先介紹幾個(gè)具有代表性的含-ion的派生名詞。

attraction [ attract v. 吸引； -ion→] n. the act or power of attracting 吸引;吸引力 / The attraction of the bright headlight made the deer stop in the road. 明亮的汽車前燈光吸引得那只鹿停在公路中間。/ Sports have great attraction for most boys. 運(yùn)動(dòng)對多數(shù)男孩有很大的吸引力。

calculation [calculat (和 calculate) v. 計(jì)算；-ion→]n.① the act or process of calculating 計(jì)算/ We made a careful calculation of what the trip would cost us. 我們仔細(xì)計(jì)算了這次旅行的費(fèi)用。② the result found by calculating 計(jì)算結(jié)果 / Our first calculation was wrong, but the second was correct. 我們第一次得數(shù)是錯(cuò)誤的，第二次是對的。

collection [collect v. 收集；-ion→“the result of collecting 收集的結(jié)果”→]n. a group of things gathered from many places 收集物，收藏品 / Our library has a large collection of books. 我們的圖書館藏書量很大。

fascination [ fascinat ( ←fascinate) v. 迷??；-ion→ ] n. the condition of being fascinated 迷戀，強(qiáng)烈愛好 / The girl's fascination with television programms worried her parents very much. 那小女孩迷上了電視節(jié)目，父母大為擔(dān)憂。

connection [connect v. 連接；-ion→] n.① the act of connecting連接，聯(lián)系/ The connection of our telephone took several hours. 我們的電話花了好幾個(gè)小時(shí)才接通。②a thing that connects 連接物 / The connection between the radiator and the pipe has become loose.汽車水箱與管道之間的連接件巳經(jīng)松動(dòng)。
