在常用詞childish中,有個(gè)英語本族語的形容詞后綴-ish。它可以加在兩類單詞后面,構(gòu)成形容詞:1)加在名詞后面,表示 like?(像…的),of?(與…有關(guān)的),tending to?(有…傾向的);加在表年齡與時(shí)間的數(shù)詞后,表亦about or slightly past? (大約…的)。2)加在形容詞后面,其意義相當(dāng)于程度副詞somewhat(稍微,有點(diǎn))。順便指出,-ish還是個(gè)來自法語的動(dòng)詞后綴。

childish [child n. 小孩;-ish→]a. like a child; immature; foolish 孩子氣的;幼稚的;傻氣的/ Crying for things you cant't have is childish. 東西得不到手就哭鬧是很幼稚的。
girlish [girl n. 少女;-ish→]a. ① of a girl 少女的 / The old woman liked to remember her girlish youth. 那老太太喜歡回憶自己的少女年華。②like a girl; like that of a girl少女似的/ She had a slim girlish figure even at her fifties. 甚至在50多歲時(shí),她依然有著少女般苗條的身段。
English [Engl (←England)n. 英國;-ish→]a. of or having to do with England, its people or language 英國的;英國人的;英語的 / He is now at college studying ancient English history.他正在大學(xué)學(xué)習(xí)英國古代史。
bookish [book n. 書;-ish→“tending to books 傾向于書本的”→]a. ① fond of reading or studying; studious 好學(xué)的;勤學(xué)的 / The bookish boy spends many hours reading every day. 那好學(xué)的男孩每天都要看好幾小時(shí)的書。②knowing books better than real life 書生氣的 /The scholar was completely a bookish man, lost in the business world. 那位學(xué)者是書生氣十足的人,在商務(wù)場上茫然失措。
