霍譯:
Bao-chai sat for some time silently contemplating a spray of cassia she had picked,then,leaning over the railings and idly plucking off the flowerets, dropped them one by one into the water and watched the fish swim up from below and nibble at them with plopping noises as they floated on the surface.

楊譯:
And the sound of this beauty's weeping — for Daiyu was the loveliest creature ever seen — made the birds fly away from their roosts on the willows and flowering trees,unable to bear her distress.
霍譯:
And as if Nature herself were affected by the grief of so beautiful a creature,the crows who had been roosting in the trees round about flew up with a great commotion and removed themselves to another part of the Garden,unable to endure the sorrow of her weeping.
例2的“唼喋”是游魚浮上水面吃東西的聲音,活現(xiàn)了魚的神態(tài)和 聲音效果;例3“忒愣愣”將擬聲與疊音交錯(cuò)使用,增強(qiáng)了作品的音感, 將宿鳥棲鴉突然猛地飛走的聲音描寫得猶如近在耳畔。用回譯法檢 驗(yàn)例2的楊譯,就是“引的游魚浮上來吃”,顯然不如原文具體形象。 霍譯在表示魚兒細(xì)咬的動(dòng)詞nibble之后用狀語結(jié)構(gòu)with plopping noises補(bǔ)充了擬聲的意義和效果;而例3的霍譯雖然比楊譯也多了一 個(gè)狀語結(jié)構(gòu)with a great commotion,但因沒有起到摹聲的作用,而 與原作體現(xiàn)出了表達(dá)效果的差異。
盡管兩個(gè)譯本在對摹聲辭格的語言轉(zhuǎn)化中,出現(xiàn)了上述不盡如人意的情況,不過,總的來講,譯者對原作的理解和表達(dá)還是相當(dāng)?shù)轿坏摹D÷暩袷俏樟寺曇舻囊卦谡Z辭中的一種辭格。它不是純客觀的,而是主客觀相結(jié)合的,融人了作者的主觀意識和感情色彩,因此,翻譯時(shí)應(yīng)首先由表及里認(rèn)真分析其表達(dá)意圖和修辭效果,只有這樣,譯文才能更接近原文,真正起到傳情達(dá)意、提高話語感染力的語言效果。
