有的詞典上把“Jurisprudence”譯成“法學”但“Jurisprudence”卻不是“法學”。詞典出錯是常有的事（因為人常要犯錯誤），但詞典不出錯也是常有的，請看：

由此可見，“jurisprudence”有三義，相當于“法學”的“ (the science of) law”僅其一義，從而英語“jurisprudence”未必表示漢語“法學”，讀者完全可以把“jurisprudence”理解為“法”或“法哲學”（“法理” 一一“法的理論”之略）。所以說，以“jurisprudence”譯“法學”恐怕不行。反之，以 “the science of law (或 legal science) ” 或“l(fā)aw”譯“法學”，讀者就無法把它們誤解為“法的理論”或“法理”了。
