三、句間有因果關系
相鄰的兩個英語簡單句，如果存在著邏輯上的因果關系，甚至還有表示這種關系的關聯(lián)詞語，則不論是前句為因，后句為果，還是前句為果而后句為因，都可將這兩個簡單句合譯為漢語一個偏正復句，必要時可加適當?shù)年P聯(lián)詞。例如：
11) The manual is difficult for beginners. The author has margined every page with instructive comments.
本手冊對初學者較難，因此作者在每頁上都附有指導性的注釋。
12) Silicon does not occur in the free state in nature. And very few people have seen the pure substance.
自然界沒有游離狀態(tài)的硅，所以很少有人見過純硅。
13) There are no data on the performance of the device at high temperature. Further tests are needed to gather these data.
本機尚無高溫下的性能數(shù)據(jù)，需再做試驗測取這些數(shù)據(jù)。
14) At about 60 miles above the surface the air is very thin，and its density is only about a millionth of that at the ground. Thus it is impossible for air-breathing creatures to exist.
