(The Treating Therapy from Oral Inquiry)

黃帝閑居，辟左右而問(wèn)于岐伯曰:余已聞九針之經(jīng)，論陰陽(yáng)逆順六經(jīng)已畢，愿得口問(wèn)。岐伯避席再拜日:善乎哉問(wèn)也，此先師之所口傳也。黃帝曰;愿聞口傳。岐伯答日:夫百病之始生也，皆生于風(fēng)雨寒暑，陰陽(yáng)喜怒，飲食居處，大驚卒恐。則血?dú)夥蛛x，陰陽(yáng)破敗，經(jīng)絡(luò)厥絕，脈道不通，陰陽(yáng)相逆，衛(wèi)氣稽留，經(jīng)脈虛空，血?dú)獠淮?，乃失其常。論不在?jīng)者，請(qǐng)道其方。

When Yellow Emperor stayed leisurely, he sent away the people on both sides and said to Qibo: "I have heard about the conditions of the nine kinds of needle, the Yin and Yang, the adverse and agreeable conditions of the hand and foot six channels expounded in the《Classics of Needle》 already, I hope to hear further the treating knowledge from the oral inquiry you obtained in the past." Qibo left his seat, bowed and said: "You have put forward an excellent question. It was passed to me through oral instructions by my teacher. " Yellow Emperor said: "I hope to know the contents of the oral instruction."Qibo said: "In the initiation of various diseases, most of them happen in the periods of the wind, rain, cold and heat, in one's mood of overjoy and anger, in the times of eating, drinking and living of daily life, by the internal and external causes of great fright and sudden fear. The unexpected disturbances cause the energy and the blood divorce, the Yin and Yang separate, the connection between the channels and the collaterals become severing, the channels become obstructed, the Yin and Yang deviate from each other, the Wei-energy becomes stagnated, the channels become empty, the energy and blood fail to circulate in their regular patterns, and all of them become disorderly. All the cases stated above are not seen in the ancient medical classics, and I like to tell you about them."

黃帝曰:人之欠者，何氣使然?岐伯答日:衛(wèi)氣晝?nèi)招杏陉?yáng)，夜半則行于陰。陰者主夜，夜者臥。陽(yáng)者主上，陰者主下。故陰氣積于下，陽(yáng)氣未盡，陽(yáng)引而上，陰引而下，陰陽(yáng)相引，故數(shù)欠。陽(yáng)氣盡，陰氣盛，則目瞑;陰氣盡而陽(yáng)氣盛，則寤矣。瀉足少陰，補(bǔ)足太陽(yáng)。

Yellow Emperor asked: "What energy causes the yawn?"Qibo answered: "The Wei-energy moves about in the Yang portion in daytime and in the Yin portion in night time. Yin is pertaining to the night, and night is related to lying down and sleep.  Yang is related to ascent and is pertaining to above. Yin is related to descent and pertaining to below, when one is about to sleep at night, the Yin energy accumulates on below, as one has not yet fallen into sleep and the Yang energy has not yet entered into the Yin portion entirely, the Yang energy is still ascending, but by this time, the Yin energy has begun to descend, the running up and down of the Yin and Yang energies causes one yawn. When the Yang energy is exhausted, and the Yin energy is abundant, one will close his eyes and falls into sleep; when in daytime, the Yin energy is exhausted and the Yang energy is abundant, one will awake. When treating, it should purge by pricking the acupoints of the Foot Shaoyin Channel of Kidney and invigorate by pricking the acupoints of the Foot Taiyang Channel of Bladder."

黃帝日:人之噦者，何氣使然?岐伯日:谷入于胃，胃氣上注于肺。今有故寒氣與新谷氣，俱還入于胃，新故相亂，真邪相攻，氣并相逆，復(fù)出于胃，故為噦。補(bǔ)手太陰，瀉足少陰。

Yellow Emperor asked:"What energy causes the hiccup?" Qibo answered:"When the cereals enter into the stomach, they transform into the stomach energy and then, transfer to the lung above. If the cold energy is already in the middle warmer, it can not harmonize with the newly entered cereal energy, they will mingle and combat each other, finally, they come out from the stomach and reach up to the diaphragm, and the hiccup occurs. When treating, invigorate by pricking the acupoints of the Hand Taiyin Channel of Lung, and purge by pricking the Foot Shaoyin Channel of Kidney."

黃帝日:人之唏者，何氣使然?岐伯曰;此陰氣盛而陽(yáng)氣虛，陰氣疾而陽(yáng)氣徐，陰氣盛而陽(yáng)氣絕，故為唏。補(bǔ)足太陽(yáng)，瀉足少陰。

Yellow Emperor asked: "What energy causes one swallowing together with rapid respiration?" Qibo answered:"When one's Yin energy is overabundant and the Yang energy is deficient, the Yin energy moves swiftly and the Yang energy moves slowly, or even the Yin energy is overabundant and the Yang energy is severing, the syndrome of swallowing together with rapid respiration will occur. When treating, invigorate by pricking the Foot Taiyang Channel of Bladder, and purge by pricking the Foot Shaoyin Channel of Kidney.

黃帝日:人之振寒者，何氣使然?岐伯日:寒氣客于皮膚，陰氣盛，陽(yáng)氣虛，故為振寒寒慄。補(bǔ)諸陽(yáng)。

Yellow Emperor asked: "What energy causes the chilliness of a man?" Qibo answered: "When the cold energy invades the skin, the Yin energy becomes overabundant and the Yang energy becomes deficient, the patient will have chilliness and the shivering with cold. When treating, apply warming and recuperating therapy to various Yang channels."

黃帝曰:人之噫者，何氣使然?岐伯日:寒氣容于胃，厥逆從下上散，復(fù)出于胃，故為噫。補(bǔ)足太陰、陽(yáng)明。一曰補(bǔ)眉本也。

Yellow Emperor asked: "What energy causes the eructation?" Qibo answered: "When the cold energy enters into the stomach, the chaotic energy of the jue-syndrome diffuses, it runs from bottom to top and comes out from the stomach to cause eructation. When treating, apply invigorating therapy by pricking the acupoints of the Foot Taiyin Channel of Spleen and the Foot Yangming Channel of Stomach."
