英語(yǔ)中的反問(wèn)是明知故問(wèn)，無(wú)疑而問(wèn)，其目的是突出某種思想和觀點(diǎn)，以達(dá)到加強(qiáng)語(yǔ)氣，加深讀者印象的目的。

例1 You ask, what is our policy? A say it is to wage war by land, sea and air. War with all our might and with all the strength God has given us，and to wage war against a monstrous tyranny never surpassed in the dark and lamentable catalogue of human crime. That is our policy.

要問(wèn)我們的政策是什么？我的回答是:在海、陸、空作戰(zhàn)，盡我們之所能，以上帝賜予我們的一切力量作戰(zhàn)。我們的敵人是人類犯罪史上空前暴虐兇殘的暴君，我們要和敵人決一死戰(zhàn)，這就是我們的政策。

例2 The gods, they say, give breath, and they take it away. But the same could be said ---could it not? 

人們都說(shuō)老天爺把氣賜予生靈，把氣奪走。不過(guò)這話用在小小的逗號(hào)上，何嘗不是如此？

例3 Do you ever have to ask?

這你還用問(wèn)嗎？

例 4 The quarrel is between our masters and us their women?

吵架是我們兩家主仆男人們的事，與他們女人有何相干？

例 5 What, drawn, and talk of peace? I hate the word, as I hate helll, all Montagues，and thee： Have at thee, coward!

什么！你拔出了劍，還說(shuō)什么和平？我痛恨這兩個(gè)字，就跟我恨地獄，痛恨所有蒙太古家的人和你一樣。照劍，懦夫！
