漢語中“緣”主要有“佛緣”、“姻緣”與“人緣”。緣(cooccurrence;reason;cause; lot;sake, relationship, edge;fringe)。
例如:血緣(blood relationship、無緣無故(without any reason or any cause/for no reason at all);緣分(predestined relationship; marital fate)。姻緣(predestined marriage)。如:前世因緣 (predestination);天賜良緣(a god-sent marriage;a good marriage arranged in Heaven);天緣巧合(a luck coincidence);喜結(jié)良緣 (tie the nuptial knot)。佛緣 (Buddhist attachment);人緣 ( relations with people);有人緣 (enjoy great popularity);聊得投緣(talk congenially;投緣的街坊們 ( congenial neighbors);有緣結(jié)識(shí)某人(be lucky to get acquainted with sb.)無緣結(jié)識(shí)某人(have no opportunity to get acquainted with sb.);與某人有一面之緣(happen to have met sb. once);化緣(beg for alms)
