漢語中“緣”主要有“佛緣”、“姻緣”與“人緣”。緣(cooccurrence；reason；cause; lot；sake, relationship, edge；fringe)。 

例如:血緣（blood relationship、無緣無故（without any reason or any cause/for no reason at all);緣分（predestined relationship; marital fate)。姻緣(predestined marriage)。如：前世因緣 (predestination);天賜良緣(a god-sent marriage；a good marriage arranged in Heaven);天緣巧合（a luck coincidence);喜結(jié)良緣 (tie the nuptial knot)。佛緣 (Buddhist attachment);人緣 ( relations with people);有人緣 (enjoy great popularity)；聊得投緣（talk congenially；投緣的街坊們 ( congenial neighbors);有緣結(jié)識(shí)某人（be lucky to get acquainted with sb.)無緣結(jié)識(shí)某人（have no opportunity to get acquainted with sb.)；與某人有一面之緣（happen to have met sb. once);化緣（beg for alms)
