(The Truth in the Collections of Books of Golden Chamber)

黃帝問曰:天有八風(fēng)，經(jīng)有五風(fēng)，何謂?岐伯對(duì)日:八風(fēng)發(fā)邪[《太素》“邪”下有“氣”字]，以為[《太素》無“以為”二字，“經(jīng)風(fēng)”二字屬下讀，即“經(jīng)風(fēng)觸五藏”]經(jīng)風(fēng)，觸五藏，邪氣發(fā)病。所謂得四時(shí)之勝者，春勝長夏，長夏勝冬，冬勝夏，夏勝秋，秋勝春，所謂四時(shí)之勝也[所謂得四時(shí)32字，柯逢時(shí)說“是衍文”]。

Yellow Emperor said: "In heaven, there are winds from eight directions, but for man, there are only winds of the five viscera, and what is the reason?"

Qibo answered:"All the eight winds are evil winds that may hurt the human body.  If one's channels being affected by the evil wind, it will further invade the viscera. When the viscera are touched by the evil wind through channels, one will contract disease and the winds of the five viscera will occur.

東風(fēng)生于春，在病肝，俞在頸項(xiàng);南風(fēng)生于夏，病在心，俞在胸脅;西方生于秋，病在肺，俞在肩背;北風(fēng)生于冬，病在腎，俞在腰股;中央為土，病在脾，俞在脊。

"The east wind occurs in spring, and the wind is normal. If the liver energy (liver energy associates with spring) of a man declines, he will be hurt by the wind-evil and contracts disease, what is more, his shu-points will be damaged first. As liver-shu is on the neck, so the disease will come about on the neck. The south wind occurs in summer, and the wind is normal. If the heart energy (heart associates with summer) of a man declines, his shu-points will be hurt first. As the heart-shu is on the chest and hypochondria, so the disease will occur on his chest and hypochondria. The west wind occurs in autumn and the wind is normal. If the lung energy (lung associates with autumn) of a man declines, his shu-points will be hurt first. As the lung-shu is on the shoulder and back, the disease will occur on his shoulder and back. The north wind occurs in winter and the wind is normal. If the kidney energy (kidney associates with winter) of a man declines, his shu-points will be hurt first. As the kidney shu is on the loins, the disease will occur on his loins. The centrality associates to earth and its condition is determined by spleen. If one's spleen energy declines, his shu-points will be hurt first. As the spleen-shu is on the spine, so the disease will occur on the spine. Although they are the shu-points of the five viscera which is being affected, but when take a step further, they will become the disease of the five viscera.

故春氣者病在頭，夏氣者病在藏，秋氣者病在肩背，冬氣者病在四支。

"Thus, the disease caused by spring-evil is on the head, as liver associates with spring and the shu-point of liver is on the neck which belongs to the head; the disease caused by summer evil is on the chest and hypochondria as heart associates with summer and the shu point of heart is on the chest and hypochondria which accomodates the viscera; the disease caused by autumn-evil is on the shoulder and back, as lung associates with autumn and the shu point of lung is on the shoulder and back; the disease caused by winter-evil is on the extremities as kidney associates to winter and the shu point of kidney is on the loins, and the extremities are the terminals of the loins.
