兩位譯者對俗語直譯的結(jié)果，除了表現(xiàn)出這種相似性之外，也不乏下面這樣完全相同的情況：

II.兩種譯文表達(dá)方式完全一致。

1)原文：眼不見心不煩（第二十九回）

楊/霍譯：

What the eye doesn’t see the heart doesn’t grieve (for) ?

2)原文：金子終得金子換（第四十六回）

楊/霍譯：

True gold will find its price.

3)原文：與人方便，自己方便。（第六回）

楊/霍譯：

He who helps others helps himself.

III.對于同一句俗語，兩個譯本呈現(xiàn)出直譯與意譯的不同。

1)鳳姐兒聽了，眼圈兒紅了半天，半日方說道真是‘天有不測風(fēng)云，人有旦夕禍福，。這個年紀(jì)，倘或就因這個病上怎么樣了，人還活著有甚么趣兒！ ”（第十一回）

楊譯：

Xifeng's eyes became moist. After a pause she exclaimed，“Truly，‘Storms gather without warning in nature，and bad luck befalls men overnight. ’ But life is hardly worth living if such an illness can carry off one so young!"

霍譯：

Xi-feng's eyes became moist and for a moment she was too overcome to speak.

‘I know “the weather and human life are both unpredictable”，'she said at last，‘but she，s only a child still. If anything should happen to her as a result of this illness，I think all the fun would go out of life! ’

該例的楊譯采取直譯，從形式到內(nèi)容與原文保持了一致；霍譯的意譯法行文簡潔，也能達(dá)意。下面一例情況相反：楊譯是意譯法，霍譯是直譯法。
