（二）詞義的形象化或具體化

在漢語中，有些常用詞含義比較籠統(tǒng)、比較概括，這些詞語在譯成英語時(shí)，往往可以根據(jù)上下文的具體情況，用英語中含義比較具體的詞來譯出，可以使譯文更加生動(dòng)、有力。 例如：

1）他目光敏銳，什么事都逃不了他。

He has a keen eve. Nothing can escape him.

2）會(huì)上表揚(yáng)了不少好人好事。

At the meeting many fine persons and fine deeds were praised.

3）超大規(guī)模集成電路仍處于發(fā)展初期。

VLSI is still in its infancy.

4）群眾對(duì)她頗有g(shù)坪。

The broad masses have a rather high opinion of him.

5）目前，煤仍然是蒸氣動(dòng)力廠鍛常用的能源。

At present coal is the most common food of a steam plant.
